Peptide Synthesis Lab
Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur

The Peptide Synthesis Lab focuses on the design, synthesis, and functional exploration of peptides and peptide-based materials. Using solution-phase peptide synthesis, we develop short peptide sequences and investigate their conformational behavior, including the formation of α-helices, β-sheets, and other secondary structures that govern molecular recognition and self-assembly.
Our research encompasses peptide self-assembly into gels and hydrogels, peptide-based surfactants, cyclic and stapled peptides, and peptide–protein interactions. We also explore peptides as versatile scaffolds for asymmetric catalysis and study their structural, physicochemical, and biological properties. By combining synthetic chemistry, supramolecular science, and biological investigations, we aim to create innovative peptide systems for applications in catalysis, biomaterials, and biomedicine.
